Serving Charlotte families

Moving a parent is never just a move.

Whether your parent is leaving the house they have lived in for thirty years, or trying to stay safely in it, there is more to handle than any family can coordinate from a distance. The sorting, the packing, the estate, the cleanout, the safety of the home itself. Goldfinch manages all of it with one accountable coordinator and photo updates at every step. You don't have to be here to know it's handled.

Everyone we send to your parent's home is someone we have met, vetted, and chosen ourselves. People we would trust in our own parents' homes.

What one conversation covers
The MoveSorting, downsizing, packing, moving day, and full setup in the new home.
The EstateSale or donation of what isn't coming, then a full cleanout, broom-clean.
The HouseGrab bars, ramps, and safety work, in the home they keep or the one they're moving to.
The moment you know

It usually starts with a visit home.

A daughter walking her elderly mother up to the front door of her home

"I came home for Thanksgiving and realized the house had gotten away from her. I live four hours away. I didn't know where to start."

A moment like this is why Goldfinch exists.

  • 01

    The realization

Expired food in the fridge. Unopened mail. A near-fall nobody mentioned. Something has to change, and you're the one who has to figure out what.

  • 02

    The logistics wall

A move, an estate sale, a cleanout, a realtor, a house that isn't safe yet. Five vendors who never talk to each other, and you're managing it all from another city.

  • 03

    The part we take over

One coordinator owns the whole sequence. You get a plan, a fixed quote, and photo-documented progress. Your parent gets someone patient and kind who shows up when promised.

Where to begin

Two kinds of families find us.

Some are planning a move. Others want Mom or Dad safe in the home they love for as long as possible. Both get the same thing: one accountable person, start to finish.

If your parent is moving

We sort, downsize, pack, and move them, then set up the new place so it feels like home on the first night. After that we handle what was left behind: the estate sale, the donations, the cleanout, and a house ready to list.

If your parent is staying home

Staying home should not mean managing contractors from another state. We walk the house, write a safety plan with a fixed quote, and send people we know to do the work: grab bars, rails, ramps, lighting, bathrooms.

What we handle

Four jobs. One accountable person.

Most families piece this together from five different companies. We built Goldfinch so you make one call, and so there's one name to hold responsible for all of it.

01

Managed Moves

Downsize & relocate

The full transition from the family home to what comes next: a senior living apartment, a smaller place, or your home.

  • Sort, downsize, and space-plan the new home
  • Professional packing and move-day management
  • Complete setup on the other end: bed made, kitchen working, pictures hung
  • Coordination with the senior living community's requirements
02

Estate & Cleanout

Liquidate & list-ready

What isn't making the move still needs a plan. We handle it respectfully, and leave the house ready to sell.

  • Estate sale or online auction through local partners we know and trust
  • Donation coordination with itemized receipts for taxes
  • Full cleanout, broom-clean, and light repairs for listing
  • Photo documentation of the finished house for out-of-town family
03

Home Safety Modifications

Stay safely, anywhere

For families keeping a parent at home, this is often where we start. The house has to be safe, and the work has to be done by people you'd let in your own front door.

  • In-home safety assessment with a written plan and fixed quote
  • Grab bars, handrails, ramps, lighting, and bathroom safety
  • Accessible bathroom conversions with specialist partners
  • Guidance on VA and insurance programs that can offset costs
04

Ongoing Home Care

Upkeep & check-ins

The relationship doesn't have to end when the boxes are gone. For families who want it, we stay on with standing help for the small stuff that piles up.

  • Regular light tidying, organizing, and laundry help
  • Handyman punch lists, handled by people we know
  • Seasonal safety checks: rails, lighting, smoke detectors, filters
  • One number to call when something new comes up
How it works

From first note to finished, in five steps.

Step 01

The conversation

Tell us the situation in the form below. We'll ask about your parent, the house, and the timeline, and tell you honestly whether we're the right fit.

Step 02

The plan

We walk the home, in person or by video, then deliver a written plan with a fixed quote. No hourly meters, no surprises.

Step 03

The work

Your coordinator schedules and supervises every person in the house. You get photo updates at each milestone, wherever you are.

Step 04

The finish

Your parent settled, the house handled, the documentation in your inbox. One invoice, one person to call with questions.

Step 05

The upkeep

For families who want it, we stay on after the transition: quarterly visits, small repairs, and a standing check on the house. Same coordinator, same people.

What it costs
Most full transitions run $3,000 to $6,000.

Every situation is different. A two-bedroom downsizing is not a four-bedroom estate. What doesn't change: you approve a fixed, written quote before any work begins, and the number doesn't move afterward.

Smaller jobs (safety work, cleanouts) typically run $500 to $2,500. Standing upkeep plans start around $200 per quarter. Larger estates are quoted individually after the walkthrough.

Why families trust us

Trust isn't a slogan. It's who we send through the door.

  • Known by name

Everyone in our network is someone we have met face to face and chosen ourselves. No lead lists, no random dispatch, no stranger showing up unannounced.

  • Verified by us, on record

We confirm licensing and insurance where the trade requires it, run background checks, and re-verify on a schedule. Ask, and we'll show you the paperwork.

  • Photo-documented progress

You shouldn't have to fly in to know the work got done. Every milestone comes with photos and a written status from your coordinator.

  • One accountable coordinator

Not a call center, not a rotating crew. One person who knows your parent's name, answers your messages, and owns the outcome.

A note from the founder
Portrait of Ben Selland, founder of Goldfinch Senior Transitions

"I started Goldfinch after helping my own parent through a late-in-life move. Even with family pitching in, the number of people to coordinate was overwhelming, and no one was responsible for the whole thing. Families deserve one person to call. That's the entire idea."

Tell us the situation. We'll take it from there.

A short note is enough. A coordinator will reply within one business day to set up a fifteen-minute conversation about what your family needs and what it should cost. No obligation, no pressure. This is hard enough already.

Serving the Charlotte metro. If your family is outside the area, write anyway; we'll point you toward someone good if we can.
